Gosh I have had a busy week and it isn’t over yet and next week is shaping up to be busy also. I had some people round to have a singing rehearsal for a wee gig tomorrow. It sounded quite nice actually with the guitars and the harmonies. I just wish I didn’t get so blooming nervous when I get there!
Yesterday I helped my parents move house. A splendid reminder, as if I needed one, that house moving is a big no-no. This house I live in now is where I have lived longest in my whole life and I sometimes feel I need to move but I am cured for the moment. It doesn’t seem to matter how organised you start off; it deteriorates into a mad mess. And they were not overly organised. I come from a family of squirrels, hoarders par excellence. I am as bad as the rest and as equally untidy so I was kind of prepared but even so the dust nearly finished me off. My childhood dust allergy reappeared and by the end of the day my chest was crackling. And I was a little horse, sorry hoarse, from the coughing. A little donkey would have been more Christmassy I suppose. We had until 2 to be out of the house and we just about made it. I cleaned as much as I could; having vivid memories of the disgusting state this house was in when we moved in nine years ago. I make no claim to be a good housfrau and my standards of cleanliness might not be hospital sanitation level but no way would I leave a kitchen the way I found mine. Fortunately the huge (green with envy!) maisonette they moved into was certainly not unclean on that scale but there were some strange anomalies. Half the doors had no handles and the TV sockets were too bizarre to get working to name but two. A friend I work with said when she moved into her house all the socket fronts had been removed so they couldn’t plug anything in at all. People are strange aren’t they! Still they are in and hopefully will be sorted out in time for Christmas.
And even with all that going in I managed to get my girlies advent calendar up and filled so I was woken this morning with her swinging a chocolate in front of my nose. Ah - satisfied feeling………………….so what have I been neglecting?
Anyhow, my night cap calls to me and don’t forget to check out the Advent Calendar tomorrow………..
