Serendipity

by jojo52 @ 2005-12-02 - 23:35:06

You know how some things just happen and then something else happens to make sense of it. Life is full of moments like that isn't it - or do you not think so.

I notice these serendipitous moments in life a lot more now than I used to. So what prompted this philosophical moment I hear you ask - well just one of those little things. I finished early today and popped into Hastings for a wee shopping trip. Part of that is factually incorrect as (pedantic adherence to the truth) I finished on time but I am so used to working later it seems unusual to keep my proper hours. And being thirsty I decided to start with a cup of tea in Debenhams - from their cafe I could watch the pounding waves on the beach which was particularly spectacular today. As I paid for my cup of tea (and bag of chocoalte stars) I was offered a lucky dip card. When I peeled back the strip it said, as you might have guessed, sorry you have not won this time. Since this fitted with my expectations I wasn't miffed or anything so I tossed it onto the table with a smile. I then noticed that the table, in common with many cafe tables, had a wobble. Why is that, does a little man come along and shave off the edges of one of the legs to make people spill their tea. Anyway I digress (what's new!) I then realised that I could rectify the wobble with my folded discarded lucky dip card. So I did in fact win, I won a moment of spill-avoiding tea drinking! Little things like that please me.

I just got back from a 'gig'. I wish I could just get rid of my nerves and then my singing would be so much better. Never mind, it's not like I'm up against Madonna or anything. I can't see her getting up on a piece of dodgy rostra in an old barn in front of a small group of eccentric thespians and singing unaccompanied with a nervous wobble and a sister with a streaming cold - Madonna wouldn't have the balls for that!
